At first glance, the painting radiates warmth and stillness through its muted palette of soft browns and grounded, earthly hues. These colours echo soil, stone, and horizon. Textures of nature that hold both familiarity and comfort. Yet within the layers of acrylic paint, the fluid shifts of alcohol inks, and the delicate touch of soft pastels, something more emerges: a movement that points beyond the physical landscape into the realm of thought, feeling, and possibility. This piece, like others in the Landscapes Beyond Thought collection, is an exploration of what lies beneath the surface of life. The materials themselves become part of the message. They embody the tension between what is fixed, what is fleeting, and what flows quietly in between. When I began this body of work, it felt as though the paintings emerged through me rather than from me. The abstract landscapes appeared almost unexpectedly, each brushstroke, wash, and pastel mark flowing effortlessly as if guided by something larger than myself. Deep down, I knew this was no accident. The message embedded in this work, that we are sparks of something infinite, that life holds far more than what we can see, is a truth I carry at my core. This is a special painting. Used as the design for my capsule collection at the New York Fashion Show and Exhibition, it felt like a quiet confirmation. Its colours, and energy naturally extend beyond the canvas, flowing into fabric and movement, carrying the same message: life is vaster than what the eye can see, and we are sparks of something infinite. We often live tethered to “what is,” confined by the limits of the visible and the known. But much like the landscape dissolves into new forms beyond its horizon, the universe holds infinite possibilities waiting to be noticed. This painting is an invitation to step into that awareness. To sense the unseen, to embrace the unknown, and to recognise the quiet power within us. Though we may appear as small sparks against the vastness of the cosmos, we are never insignificant.
